This was a project with the Scottish branch of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in the run-up to the 2024 General Election. A focus was placed on communicating the cost of having nuclear weapons in such close proximity to major population centres, and the burden of stress that is placed upon people living under such conditions.

I created a series of illustrations focusing on the visible anxiety of ordinary people, with the aim of creating relatable characters that audiences would connect with through the human element. I adapted the ask for a target to be placed on the characters’ backs into a heavy dartboard weighing around their necks with a thick, coarse rope to emphasise the weight and discomfort of living under duress.

A multimedia campaign was planned – complicated by the government calling an early election requiring a quick response – and graphics were created for web articles, print flyers and posters, and badges and t-shirts.
