This project was part of a documentary by BAFTA award-winning director Felipe Bustos Sierra. Commissioned by the Govanhill Baths, the film looks at life and community in the often hotly-debated area of Govanhill, in the Southside of Glasgow.

This was the first work that I have done directly for use in film. Although I’m not from Govanhill, through my theatre work I have gotten familiar with the area and have many friends who live, work, and perform there – this formed the basis of this illustration, a title card for one of the short films. Each character represents someone I know in or through Govanhill, and I have depicted them all doing something I associate with them and Govanhill itself – from comedy, to cooking, to writing.
