This project was a series of images to accompany an article about the treatment of refugees during the COVID lockdowns of the early 2020s.
I elected to approach these illustrations with a monotone palette to reflect the general mood of society at the time. The style I employed here is one I describe as my “soft” style, which I elected to use to provide an instant human connection with the refugee character. This project was specifically designed for web and consideration was taken to ensure the images worked for both landscape viewing on monitors, and portrait viewing on phones.
