Cross-Training For Success

Just as Michael Jordan practiced ballet to improve his ballgame, and Bruce Lee’s footwork accomplished as much on the dance floor as it did on set, you and your team can benefit from cross-training in unorthodox areas. In a world where automation and technology move fast and companies must move even faster to keep up, it is the soft skills of the people working for you that will make all the difference. Having the best technical minds developing ingenious solutions is a great asset to have. Enabling them to communicate those ideas, to collaborate cross-functionally, and to adapt to new situations with agility is even greater. Soft skill training is the force multiplier that will differentiate you from your competitors, and bring new business on board.
Perform To Perform is a collection of training aimed at corporate teams and organisations of all sizes, taking lessons learned from the worlds of art & theatre and translating them into actionable strategies your staff can apply in their roles. Teach your teams to think holistically, training their bodies as well as their minds to deliver confident, engaging presentations. Show them how artists self-critique effectively, and how to deliver thoughtful criticism to encourage positive change among their colleagues. Give them improvisational tools to remain flexible, concise, and constructive in any conversation.
By choosing to invest in your staff through cross-training with unorthodox and complementary skillsets, you give them tools that they can use throughout their career. You empower them to work creatively and flexibly, to solve problems in ways that more rigid skillsets might not consider. You broaden the abilities of your team as a whole, making them more rounded and more capable of handling whatever the future sends their way.

Lessons In Presentation Skills From The Performing Arts

What is it about presentations that give even the most capable people pause for thought? Just the notion of getting up in front of a group of any size and speaking to them can elicit feelings of anxiety and dread for many, and so presentations are often put off or avoided. However, delivering presentations is a very powerful tool for engaging audiences at a personal level, and can be invaluable for getting people on-board with new concepts or big decisions.
Lessons In Presentation Skills From The Performing Arts emphasises how confidence drives good presentations. Using techniques developed for stage performance, three key strategies are provided to build up confidence in individual presenters:
- Preparation And Practice – Leaning into your strengths and training your mind as well as your body.
- Flexibility And Resilience – Breaking free of rigid scripts, going with the flow, and taking mistakes in stride.
- Projection And Performance – Delivery with authentic authority, and how to keep audiences engaged.
The key learning outcomes of this training revolve around these three strategies, teaching the skills and practice of rehearsal, improvisation, and conversational delivery, and combining these together to build confidence in speakers.
Lessons In Presentation Skills can be delivered in three different ways, as suits your organisation and budget:
- 2 Hour Workshop – Onsite or online, this workshop for up to 6 attendees has 1 hour of interactive presentation and 1 hour of practical exercises.
- 1 Hour Lecture – Onsite or online, this has 45 minutes of presentation with 15 minutes dedicated to audience questions. Suitable for larger audience sizes.
- 1 Hour Executive Coaching – Onsite or online, this is a full hour of dedicated one-to-one time to help individuals grow as presenters and build a development plan.
